Legislator Koslow Calls on County Executive Blakeman to Stand Down on Transgender Sports Ban

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) -  Today, the Office of New York Attorney General Letitia James issued a cease-and-desist letter to Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, demanding the recission of his recent executive order which bans transgender women and girls from equal participation in sports at Nassau County facilities. The OAG stated that the order violates New York’s civil and human rights laws.

Following today’s announcement, Nassau County Legislator Seth I. Koslow (D – Merrick) called on County Executive Blakeman to end his attention-grabbing, inflammatory political stunt.

“I am glad to see Attorney General James and her team take a stand against this illegal, divisive executive order,” said Legislator Koslow. “Instead of pursuing a doomed, expensive legal fight, County Executive Blakeman should end this political sideshow and focus on the real issues facing our County.”
