[ARCHIVED] Statement from Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams Following Approval of Retroactive Contract

Abrahams

(MINEOLA, N.Y.) - On Monday, Nov. 7, 2022, the Nassau County Legislature’s Rules Committee voted 4-3 along party lines to approve a $60,000 increase to an outside counsel contract between the County Attorney and Leventhal Mullaney & Blinkoff, LLP. This retroactive contract amendment is related to services provided by Nassau County Board of Ethics Counsel Steven Leventhal from Jan. 31, 2018, to July 31, 2022.
Following the vote, Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D - Freeport) issued the following statement:
“Not only is it highly disappointing that Nassau County continues to retain an individual with an ethically checkered past to oversee the County’s Board of Ethics, but it is also outrageous to pay any vendor without receiving satisfactory proof of the services that have been provided,” Nassau County Legislature Minority Leader Kevan M. Abrahams (D – Freeport) said. “It is long past time for the County to part ways with Mr. Leventhal and bring in new legal counsel at the Board of Ethics.”
