Fees

Fees shall be submitted in accordance with the Article XXII Schedule of Fees of the Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance.

Requirements of Local Laws

The Nassau County Fire Marshals Office is required by local law to collect fees for certain services offered to the public. These fees are associated with the:

  • Annual emergency lighting / generator test of certain occupancies
  • Licensing of certain cutting and welding processes
  • Licensing of certain fire and life safety contractors
  • Licensing of certain hazardous materials handlers
  • Modification or alteration of an existing fire and life safety system
  • Permitting and registration of certain underground tanks
  • Permitting of commercial and residential fire alarm systems
  • Permitting of commercial tents
  • Plan review, inspection, and testing of new fire and life safety systems
  • Required annual fire safety inspection of certain businesses and institutions

The Nassau County Fire Marshals Office does not collect fees for:

  • Fire and life safety complaints
  • Fire origin and cause investigation
  • Hazardous materials emergency response
  • Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program
  • Most routine annual fire inspections
  • Public education and community outreach
