(MINEOLA, N.Y.) – Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages (D – Valley Stream) reminds residents that the deadline for Nassau County property owners to grieve the assessed value of their home has been extended to Monday, March 18.
Anyone who has not yet filed a grievance can learn how to do so during Legislator Solages’ upcoming online assessment grievance workshop, which is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 28. There, taxpayers who disagree with their assessment will learn how to navigate the online grievance process and dispute their assessment. There will also be an opportunity to submit via chat any questions to the representative from ARC. Questions will be answered after the presentations and/or they will contact you directly.
Viewers can sign in on www.nassaucountyny.gov/LD3; residents are encouraged to ensure that their version of Microsoft Teams is up to date on the device they plan to view the workshop on.
“In my opinion, every Nassau County property owner should grieve their assessment every year to protect from unfairly higher property taxes under our broken assessment system and the fourth year of frozen tax rolls,” Legislator Solages said. “If you have not already filed a challenge, I encourage you to attend my office’s upcoming workshop and learn how to exercise your rights as a property owner without paying a private firm to complete this relatively simple process.”
