Gas Station Complaints

The Consumer Affairs Division of Weights and Measures regulates pumps at Nassau County gas stations. Common complaint issues include:

  • The price of gas advertised, does not match the price of gas at the pump.
  • Full-service attendants start to fill the tank with money already on the meter, charging the consumer for more gas than was recieved.
  • Credit card receipts do not appear to match the amount of gas pumped. Often the credit card does indicate an accurate price per gallon. Be sure to compare the total price pumped, and the total price on your receipt--not the prices per gallon.
