Children enjoy one of the climbing attractions Centennial Park's new playground

A two-acre community resource, this renovated park provides a variety of recreational activities, including a state-of-the-art playground equipped with eight swings, climbing apparatus and slides; basketball hoops and tennis courts. This property is one of the earliest park properties to be owned and operated by the County, having been acquired in 1938. A small additional parcel was added in 1970.

In addition to the playground, Centennial Park includes a dozen basketball hoops, two color-coated tennis courts, a handball court and picnic tables. The renovated basketball courts feature fiberglass backboards. Basketball legend Julius Erving ("Doctor J"), who grew up in the area, played ball at these courts as a youngster.

Directions:

To reach Centennial Park, take the Southern State Parkway to Exit 21 South (Nassau Road). Proceed down Nassau Road to Centennial Avenue. The park is located on that corner.
