Medication Grant Program

The Medication Grant Program evolved from the 1999 legislation known as Kendra's Law. The law authorized county mental hygiene directors to receive grants that enable mentally ill individuals that are released from jail and prison or discharged from hospitals to purchase psychotropic medications for up to 90 days, while a Medicaid application is pending. This program also allows the client to receive one outpatient visit for medication management, at no cost.
