PILIP SWORN IN AS NASSAU COUNTY LEGISLATOR


On Sunday, January 2nd, Mazi Melesa Pilip took the affirmation oath of office, joining the Nassau County Legislature for the 14th Legislative Session covering 2022-2023. Supreme Court Justice Cohanim Lancman administered the oath to Legislator Pilip at Chabad of Great Neck.

Standing with Legislator Pilip's family during the oath were Mayors Marvin Natiss, Dr. Dan Levy and Dr. Pedram Bral.  Also joining Legislator Pilip during the ceremony were former Congressmember Peter King, County Executive Bruce Blakeman, Police Commissioner Pat Ryder, Comptroller Elaine Phillips, Supervisor Jen DeSena, Town Clerk Ragini Srivistava, Councilmember David Adhami, Nassau County Police DAI President John Wighaus, Assemblyman Ed Ra, Nassau PBA President Thomas Shevlin and Nassau County Legislature Presiding Officer Richard Nicolello. 

“It is an honor and privilege honored to represent the 10th district,” Legislator Pilip said. ”I fully recognize the importance this new assignment represents, and I thank our residents for placing their trust in me to represent them in the County Legislature. I look forward to being a bridge in unifying of all of our communities. Revitalizing our downtowns, tax relief, supporting our police, fighting antisemitism and all forms of hate are my top priorities," said Pilip.

Legislator Pilip has been tapped to serve as Chairperson of the powerful Towns, Villages and Cities Committee. In addition, Pilip will serve as Vice-Chair of the Health Committee and member of the Public Safety, Veterans and Senior Citizen Affairs Committees.
