[ARCHIVED] County Executive Curran to Sign Legislator Drucker’s Ban on the Sale of Flavored E-Cigs/Vapes

WHAT: Nassau County Executive Laura Curran will sign legislation, introduced by Nassau County Legislator Arnold W. Drucker (D - Plainview), which prohibits the sale of most flavored vaping products in Nassau County starting Jan. 1, 2020. The measure was unanimously passed by the full Nassau County Legislature in a Monday, Nov. 25 vote and was hailed as a long-awaited public health victory for Nassau County’s young people.

 

WHO: Legislator Drucker and County Executive Curran will be joined at the bill-signing ceremony by colleagues in the Nassau County Legislature; Suffolk County Legislator Dr. William R. “Doc” Spencer (D - Huntington);  Greg May, Nassau County Commissioner of Consumer Affairs, Dr. Shetal Shah, President, American Academy of Pediatrics; Dr. Eve Krief, Legislative Chair, American Academy of Pediatrics; Eileen Miller, Smokefree Community Outreach; pediatrician Dr. Saema Khandakar; Dr. Melodi Pirzada, pediatric pulmonologist, NYU Winthrop Hospital, and parents.
